Tremble
It’s a maddening world we live in
We’re told to pick a crown
So we choose our crowns
And then we are mocked
The colour, size and material
All laughed at
We’re taught to grow thorns
We’re taught to grow fangs and claws
But then we are judged
For becoming ugly
And afraid
It’s a maddening world we live in
We are given voices
Then told to shut up
We are given dreams
Then told they aren’t real
They laugh, they judge, they lie
Wear your crown
Even though they laugh
The way you survived
Isn’t ugly; it’s real
You must sing, you must write
You must dream and then not believe them
You must soften and tremble and unfold
